Thanks to local artist Ryan Sias who gave a lively program tracing the trajectory of his 30-year career in the arts including his many gigs in comics, storyboarding, games, film, and as an animation director, plus the challenges of pitching ideas to media studios and publishers, and pivoting with the advent of the internet.
Ryan has worked with renowned entities such as Sesame Street, Nickelodeon, and Disney and has authored and illustrated 10 childrens' books.

Mighty Mo Tour at the Fox Theatre

This was a wonderful fieldtrip down to the Fox where organist Kenneth Double gave an entertaining and informative demonstration of the Fox Theatre's one-of-a-kind 1929 organ affectionately known as Mighty Mo.
This was a special FREE tour for those who had joined (or renewed) their Cultural Arts Alliance membership for 2024.
Tour of the Booth Western Art Museum

This fieldtrip for Johns Creek Beautification and the Arts Alliance included a talk by Eric Strauss, sculptor of Entwined Strength (Johns Creek's beautiful horse sculpture in the Bell and Boles roundabout) and a guided tour by a Booth Museum docent.
The group picture shows our combined JCB and CAAJC members and friends outing to the Booth Museum. Sculptor Eric Strauss was one of the showcased artists of the Booth Art Museum's exhibit "Many Metals, Many Fires".

A Gathering for Arts & Culture

Entering an exciting time for arts and culture in Johns Creek, the Cultural Arts Alliance held its first general meeting since the start of the pandemic. It was a well-attended meeting with a chance to connect arts & cultural leaders, professional artists, nonprofit organizations, businesses, local officials, and arts & culture advocates.
The program included a history and update of the Cultural Arts Alliance and the Legacy Center project from Wayne Baughman, the latest on the Legacy Center campaign and next steps in funding from Steve Dorough of First Community Development, and the city's new initiatives to encourage and support arts and culture activities from Stacey Gross, the city's Volunteer Coordinator.
Attendees were enthusiastic about all that's happening and discussed ideas to further coordinate programming and collaboration between organizations and how to better bring awareness of arts & culture activities to residents.

Feasibility of a Cultural Arts Center in Johns Creek

Leaders of local cultural arts organizations and advocates of arts and culture attended this meeting hosted in collaboration with the Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau.
- Duncan Webb, of Webb Management, presented preliminary Phase II findings of their feasibility study for a Johns Creek Cultural Arts Center.
- Wayne Baughman led a discussion on what's needed next and ideas for a public campaign.
Webb Management will consider audience input from the meeting and finalize the Phase II report over the next months. They and the CVB plan to present the final report to the Johns Creek City Council in January, 2019.
